Davis, created many new grape varieties by <\/span><b>crossing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> different varieties for both wine grapes (which are considerably smaller in berry size) and table grapes (which are usually larger in size).\u00a0 \u00a0 Two examples of his wine grapes intended for warm climates are Carnelian and Symphony, seen here as column climbers.\u00a0 <\/span><b>Symphony<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a cross of the vinifera varieties Muscat of Alexandria and Grenache Gris.\u00a0 \u00a0 The name was coined because of the \u201cSymphony\u201d between rich aromas and flavors of orange blossom, apricot and peach.\u00a0 It has a silvery coloring to it on the vine to a pale yellowish green in the glass. It was introduced commercially in 1981 and patented in 1983. \u00a0 Although it was intended to be grown in hot climates, it does best with cool breezes, as in Lodi. <\/span><b>Carnelian<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a crossing of Vitis Vinifera Carignan and a separate cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache.\u00a0 Carnelian same a similar taste profile as Cabernet with blackberry and blueberry notes.\u00a0 However, it has structure of Grenache with low tannins and low acidity.\u00a0 It was released in 1972 to be a hot climate grape.\u00a0 Australians started growing it, accidentally and now it\u2019s catching on. \u00a0 In contrast to crosses, a <\/span><b>hybrid<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a cross between two different species, such as Vitis Vinifera and Vitis Lambrusco, grapes originating on different continents.\u00a0 A <\/span><b>clone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a cutting of a specific grape to reproduce that exact same plant.\u00a0 As grapes are planted in different places, they evolve to the conditions best suited to the different climates and terroir. \u00a0 Then specific clones are sought out for new vineyards that will do best to the specific vineyards conditions.\u00a0 A <\/span><b>grafting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a cutting from one plant grafted onto another that may be resistant to diseases such as phylloxera, thereby making the plant with the graft, resistant to the disease.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1ff519f4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"1ff519f4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55b7ac0a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"55b7ac0a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3532e756 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3532e756\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">COMING SOON!<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6aa1be66 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6aa1be66\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This page is currently aging like a fine wine.
