Cinsault
Cinsault is a dark-skinned, early ripening grape, possibly originating in the Languedoc region. It enjoys heat and produces large yields. In South Africa, Cinsault is called Hermitage attributing to its crossing with Pinot Noir to create Pinotage. This is not to be confused with Hermitage from France which are Syrah blends. Cinsault has medium- tannin, acidity and alcohol levels. When a loving viticulturist controls the yields, it has strong floral aromas with flavors of strawberry jam and dried plums.
