Bonarda
Bonarda (also known as Deuce Noir and Charbono) it probably originated 3000 years ago in the Padana (North Western Italy by the Po River) Region with the Etruscans. Although, it is also known as Corbeau Savoie in the Alpine region of France and possibly originated there. It is popular in Argentina, second only to Malbec. It came to the United States by Italian immigrants. Bonarda requires a very long growing season and early pruning. It produces full bodied wines with inky colors, medium-high acidity and medium tannin with flavors of blackberries, plums, cassis and tar as it ages.
